Jim Brackett

woodworking

Jim Brackett has called Williamson County home for more than 30 years. He began woodworking in 2006 after he and his wife built their family home. With the house still waiting to be furnished, his wife asked if he could make the space feel “warmer.” That request sparked a journey from building end tables and coffee tables to dining sets, patio furniture, and even beds for his children.

About five years ago, Jim was asked to create his first wooden matchbox, and his focus shifted to smaller, finely detailed work. Today, he handcrafts each matchbox from local cherry, walnut, and ambrosia maple, often incorporating custom laser-etched designs. His work reflects a simple philosophy: practical objects should also be beautiful.

By blending craftsmanship with everyday function, Jim creates pieces that are meant to be held, used, and remembered—small heirlooms that carry the warmth of Tennessee wood and the hand of the maker.
