Kent Ambler is a Greenville, South Carolina–based printmaker and painter known for his expressive woodcut prints inspired by nature and everyday life. After earning a BFA in Painting from Ball State University, Kent spent six years in New Mexico before settling in South Carolina in 2000. He has worked as a full-time artist since 1997.
Drawing inspiration from his surroundings on Paris Mountain—including birds, wildlife, trees, landscapes, and his own pets—Ambler approaches his work intuitively, emphasizing mark-making, color, texture, and the beauty of imperfection. He hand-carves his woodblocks, mixes his own inks, and prints his images in small editions. His work reflects a deep connection to observation, memory, and the natural world.
